Good morning, friends! Ryan Polk here and I’m over the moon as I take over the Texas Forest Trail Region IG account the next few days. I’m proud to call the Piney Woods of East Texas my home. From the food and history to the dramatic outdoor scenes, this pocket of Texas is truly spectacular! Check out this scene. Synergy Park/Elder Lake in Kilgore, Texas, once a family retreat, Elder Lake will be restocked with trout in a few weeks by texasparkswildlife.

France meets the piney woods! Kilgore’s first library opened in 1933 under the direction of two local women’s clubs. With funding from the Federal Works Administration and support from the city, this structure was completed in 1939. Designed in a french provincial style from Normandy, this library is both charming and striking. ~ryanjpolk
