Travel to the Piney Woods of East Texas and find yourself in a place unlike any other in the Lone Star State. • Start your day with a visit to the Rangerette Showcase and Museum, where you’ll explore the vast history of the world-famous Kilgore College Rangerettes. Enjoy lunch at The Back Porch, a local favorite offering delicious Southern cuisine in a laid-back setting.

• Spend your afternoon at the East Texas Oil Museum, an immersive recreation of the 1930s oil boom that put Kilgore on the map. As the sun sets, visit the World’s Richest Acre, a Texas Historical Landmark with towering oil derricks that light up the night sky.

• Cap off the day with a fine dining experience at Jack Ryan’s Steakhouse, known for its exquisite steaks and elegant atmosphere. Overnight stay in a Kilgore Hotel.

Day 2: A Day in Tyler – The Rose Capital of America

• Begin your morning at the Tyler Rose Garden and Museum, the largest rose garden in the country, featuring stunning floral displays and local history. Explore unique shops and enjoy lunch at The Potpourri House, a beloved boutique and restaurant known for its charming atmosphere.

• Step back in time at the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum, where you can see vintage aircraft and learn about aviation history. Indulge in a sweet treat at Sweet Gourmet, a premier culinary store featuring artisan goods and specialty foods. Take a scenic drive through the Historic Azalea and Brick Street District, where historic homes and vibrant gardens create a picturesque backdrop.

• End the evening with a thrilling murder mystery dinner at the 1859 Goodman LeGrand House & Museum, a historic mansion filled with intrigue and history. Overnight stay in Tyler.

• Kick off your day with a hearty lunch at Pint & Barrel Drafthouse, a local gastropub known for its craft beer and Southern flavors. Stroll through Old Town Palestine on a historic architecture tour, including a stop at the famous Oxbow Bakery, home to some of the best pies in Texas.

• Discover a hidden gem at Braly’s Hardware, often called the “coolest hardware store on the planet,” where history meets unique shopping. Experience the art of distilling at Tahwahkaro Distilling Co., where you can sample whiskey “made to roam.”

• Visit the Texas State Railroad Train Depot, home of the “Official Railroad of Texas,” and explore its rich railway history. End your journey with a delicious dinner at Switch Brick Oven Pizza & Wine Bar, known for its wood-fired pizzas and cozy ambiance.
